Bumper Diplomacy

My wife amazes me. About two weeks ago she had a doctor's appointment and when she came out of the office she found a note on her windshield and this on her bumper:

The note contained an apology and phone number. Stacy called the number when she got home and found that the bumper-basher was a little old lady in her 80's who was so shaken up by the experience that she was now on oxygen. "She was very cute and sweet sounding," said Stacy. "She was backing out of her parking space and got going too fast and backed into my car." Over the course of the week she was in contact with the lady a number of times working out insurance details.

On Thursday of last week I got home from work and asked about the day's events. "I took the kids over to see that nice Mrs. ________. She made them tea and cookies. N adores her." Leave it to Stacy become bossom buddies with the mangler of her car. Maybe Obama should appoint her Secretary of State.

Come to think of it, Stacy hasn't seen her wallet since that excursion...
